GSECDC In the News:

    • January 2011- GSECDC Starts construction at 34-40 Van Nostrand Avenue and 15-17 Oak Street. GSECDC has pre-sold 3 of the 5 homes. For more information on the 2 available please visit www.GSECDC.org/vb

    • January 2011- GSECDC Division of Housing and Community Development received a $20,000 investment from the TD Bank Charitable Foundation to support our operations and the delivery of affordable housing and community development programs.

    • December 2010- GSECDC receives a commitment for $25,000 from the NJ Department of Community Affairs Neighborhood Revitalization Tax Credit Program. In partnership with the Jersey City Redevelopment Agency and other stakeholders we will work to come up with a neighborhood plan to further the revitalization of the Greenville Neighborhood.

    • December 2010- GSECDC secures a commitment for $1.3M to rehab 242 Bergen Avenue into 12 units of affordable rental housing. GSECDC is scheduled to secure planning approval in February 2011.

    • December 2010- GSECDC recieves two grants from the PNC Foundation. One investment was for $10,000 to support the First Time Homebuyer Club, including the launch of a class in Spanish. The other investment for $20,000 will support the delivery of our affordable housing programs.

    • December 2010- GSECDC completes the rehabilitation and sale of 62 Stegman Street.

    • December 2010- GSECDC optains a grant for $15,000 from the JP Morgan Chase Foundation to support our affordable housing programs.

    • December 2010- GSECDC secures site control of 279 Forrest Street. This 2 family home will be rehabbed and sold to a first time home buyer in the 1st quarter of 2011.

    • November 2010- GSECDC applies for $1.3M in financing from the City's HOME program to construction another 5 two family homes at 291-297 Halladay Street and 10 Bidwell Avenue.

    • November 2010- GSECDC completes the renovation of a basement into a community room for our Beacon Avenue facility with funding support from the City's Community Development Block Program in the amount of $80,000.

    • October 2010- GSECDC celebrates the completion of 167-169 Monticello Avenue with Mayor Healy, Councilwoman Richardson and other stakeholders. For more information on this event Click Here.

    • October 2010- GSECDC receives a $2,500 investment from Capitol One through the Housing and Community Development Network to assist with technology needs for the implementation of the Neighborhood Stabilization Program.

    • September 2010- Paul Lozito joins GSECDC as Assistant Project Manager through the Local Initiatives Support Corporation's AmeriCorps Program. Paul will provide assistance in community planning initiatives and affordable housing projects.

    • September 2010- John Restrepo, Housing and Community Development Director, receives the Young Professional of the Year Award from the Young Community Development Professionals Association at the 2010 Governor's Housing and Community Development Conference.
 


What We Do

1. Home ownership opportunities for moderate and middle income first time home buyers. This includes the new construction of two family homes and condominiums and the acquisition, rehab of two family homes for resale.


2. Permanent supportive rental housing of people and families with special needs. This includes multifamily building and congregate living facilities.


3. Multifamily rental housing opportunities for low and moderate income households, including seniors.

4.  Mixed use development to help revitalize Jersey City’s retail corridors.
